Cubicle Inspiration

Ah the daily grind.

Many of us work office jobs, tied to our swivel chairs, eyes locked on a computer for 8+ hours a day, 5+ days a week. I do.

It’s draining, I know. And can be difficult to enjoy sometimes. I find, though, that surrounding myself with things I cherish makes my space uniquely mine and more enjoyable. In a way it helps fuel me to work harder. When I’m comfortable, I’m less distracted and more able to focus. This sense of focus drives me; drive gives me motivation to do my best.

Here’s a peak at what surrounds me when I’m hard at work.

Home Decor: Chevron Love

Okay, okay.  I know it’s trendy and everywhere, but I can’t help but loving chevron!  Here are some of my favorite chevron pieces from around the web.

Home Decor: Cozy Spaces

It’s been pretty chilly for us Southern Californians lately.  We’re not used to much weather other than sunny and warm most of the year.  But this winter has been exceptionally cool compared to the last few years.

The tile floors, no working heater and no fireplace in our house is making me dream of cozy spaces.  A quick Pinterest search will do the trick.  Here are just a few of my current cozy space favorites:

Home Decor: Olioboard

We’re taking a break from our regularly scheduled Thursday programming to show you something I’m really excited about. To be honest, I didn’t have a Doggy Diaries post ready for today, but I am still excited about Olioboard!

I heard about Olioboard on the Nate Berkus show the other day and just had to check it out.

It’s pretty awesome.  It allows you to create moodboards for anything; dragging and dropping items from the pre-loaded library into your digital room.  You can upload your own photos to your private library which will be saved in your account too.  And you can even purchase some of your favorite items online from the pre-loaded library.  It’s so much fun to play around with textures, colors and furniture!

They’ve just updated the background and texture galleries to include better and more options.  The background from my design above was newly added and I love it!  The rustic wood flooring, brick walls and industrial ceiling lights are awesome!

The board above is my first attempt to design an office.  I love the neutral tones (of course) and industrial pieces paired with the modern chevron rug.  Throw in some fresh flowers and maybe a couple bright, comfy floor pillows and you’ve got a great home office!

Check out Olioboard for yourself and have some fun designing!  What rooms in your home would be the challenges to tackle with Olioboard?

Home Decor: New Craft Room

Here’s a peak at my new craft room since we’ve moved.  The layout of the room is a little different, so the bed is no longer underneath the window, which I like.  My desk is the same layout, just mirrored, and I’ve changed the  comforter on the guest bed back to what I used in high school, which my mom sewed for me.  I love the corduroy!  Take a look:

Since the kitties joined me while taking photos, I took a couple shots of them too!

If you want to see what my craft room looked like before, check out my very first blog post and these other posts about my craft room.

Do you have a craft room?  What does it look like?

Home Decor: Rustic + Vintage + Industrial

Unforeseen circumstances have pushed the hubs and I to move out of our quaint and lovely condo and move on.  We will dearly miss our first home together and look back with fond memories, but this push may be just the thing to get us into a house, and maybe even our forever home.  In the spirit of house hunting, here are some home decor finds I hope make their way into our new home, eventually of course!

I’ve been wanting a hammock for a long time now. And one indoors would be awesome!

I love the sink in this rustic bathroom:
