Business Stuff: I Need Your Feedback!

As summer comes to an end and fall will soon be upon us, I want to take a moment to connect with you.

As I prepare topics and posts for the rest of the year, I want to find out from YOU what you want to read and hear about.  I also want to know from you what you want available in my online shop to purchase.  Anything new I don’t offer yet?  Any ideas for card themes or home decor pieces?

In the comments below, let me know any topics, posts or craft ideas you want me to highlight in the coming months and your fabulous ideas for the shop!

Business Stuff: Amazing Race Themed Burlap Banner

Today we’ve got a late post (sorry) and we’re skipping Doggy Diaries again for an office update.  I’m having fun putting together my most recent order of a burlap banner for a sweet lady who is throwing an Amazing Race themed party for her nephew.  The banner will say “Pit Stop.”  Isn’t that so cute?  I hope she’ll send me photos of her party as I would love to see how it all ties together with the banner.

I don’t know about you, but I sure love seeing photos of awesome parties.  Creativity says it all!  What’s the most creative party theme you’ve come up with?

Milestone: 100th Post + Guest Post Giveaway!

Wow, I can’t believe I already have 100 posts published!  In some ways it seems like I’ve written so many more, and in others this blog still feels like a wee little baby.

Thank you to everyone who has commented and followed along with me on this journey.  It feels great to know I’m not speaking to an empty abyss!

Now to make this post worth it’s number 100 milestone status, I’ve got to make it juicy, right? I’m giving away a single guest posting spot for one lucky reader! If you’ve got something to say that fits within the confines of this blog, email me telling me a little bit about yourself and include your actual post you want published.  That last part is key so make sure it’s on topic, well written and proof read!  It’s the actual guest post I will publish.  Once I’ve reviewed all the entries, I will choose the winner who’s post will be published sometime in the next few months (May/June/July).  There is also a chance that this person could become a regular guest author!

Who Would Make a Good Fit: Someone who loves to write (already has a blog or thinking about starting one?), has fresh ideas, lots of interest in crafting, healthy eating, DIY, organization, graphic design, home decor, party planning, or weddings (or all of the above) and is not looking for a paid position.

What You’ll Get Out of It:  A free guest post spot for at least one article published on this blog, with the chance to become a regular contributor! This will increase the online presence for both of us, and hopefully turn out to become a good friendship.

Terms of the Contest:
You must submit your email on or before Monday, April 30, 2012.

Your email must include your full name (first and last) and links to any blog, website, or other online presence you have (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.).  This is so I can make sure we would make a good fit, because I am running a business here!

Include the edited and final blog post you want published.

I will personally select the winner of the free guest posting spot in May and contact that person directly via email.  The guest post will be published in the following months.

I hope you’ll feel inclined to join me and if you know anyone who would be interested, please send them over!

Business Stuff: My Portfolio

Well this has been a long time coming.  Quite a few months ago I started putting together a portfolio to showcase my products for prospective clients and retail stores. While it wasn’t finished at the time, I used it when I pitched to the retail stores back before the new year, and it went over very well.  I was pleased to have received such great feedback about it how creative it is!

I thought it appropriate to create a scrapbook-type portfolio, seeing as this is a creative business I’m running here! I want to uphold a certain level of professionalism, while simultaneously letting my creative juices flow.  Below are some photos of the finished product:

What do you think?  Do any of you have portfolios, either online or a physical version?

Business Stuff: New Packaging Stamp

In browsing the lovely pages over at Wit & Whistle, I came across a post about Amanda’s new stamp for shipping packages.  A good idea, right? And I just love it!

So with inspiration from Amanda, I decided to design my own stamp. In Word.  Pretty impressive if I must say that Word really does have quite a bit of design potential.  It might be a little round-about to get there since it’s not really designed for design, but hey, it works!

I looks really cute on my shipping envelope and adds just a touch of intentional style, without overdoing it.

Want to get your own stamp made?  I’ve gotten a few done at Rubberstamps.net.  Just create your design to the specified stamp dimensions, upload, and in a few days you’ll get a nice package at your door, yay!

Business Stuff: Pitch Packages

To start off the new year, I’m finally getting my act together.  Right before Christmas I mailed out these pitch packages to a couple of stores I can’t visit in person and also a very well known special someone who, if this person likes my stuff, could really make an impact on my business.  Let’s just say the exposure would be incredible!

Then, last week before the New Year, I visited a few stores in person around Orange County to start some relationships and get my name out there.  You can now find my gift tags at The Victoria Company in the Orange Circle, until supplies last.  If they sell well, hopefully she’ll be ordering again!  Donna, the owner, is such a sweet lady and her shop is full to the brim of adorable gifts and home decor.

Plus, there are a handful of other very interested prospects, so I’ll keep you posted.

Wedding Stationery Product Page Now Live!

This should have been done many months ago, but it wasn’t, so here it is now!

Since I don’t currently list my wedding stationery in my online shop, I’ve put an information page together with details and contact information for brides-to-be looking for handmade wedding stationery.

There you will find a breakdown of what I currently offer, a few samples, a link to my vendor profile at 100 Layer Cake, and more!

If you’re a bride-to-be or know someone who is, please check out this page and pass it along.  I would love to get to know you and if you’re local, we can meet for coffee (or tea) to go over all the fun details!
