Organic Farming at Great Park Irvine

This past weekend, Hubby and I met up with some friends at Great Park‘s Artisan Food & Arts Festival.  We had such a great time catching up and indulging in yummy gourmet food truck eats.  Another neat thing we saw was a plant based sauce demonstration from the executive Chef, Jenny Ross, from 118 Degrees in Costa Mesa, California.  It’s a “living foods” eatery, where no food is heated above 118 degrees.  Healthful, fun and I am sure delicious!

But my favorite part was exploring the Farm & Food Lab!  They’ve started a wonderful thing over at Great Park and I’m excited to learn more and possibly be a part of it in the future.  With planned growth on the horizon, I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities.  Here are some photos from the Farm & Food Lab (taken on my phone since we rarely carry a camera anymore!):

Are you involved in any community agriculture projects?

  2. It all looks delicious! I have been meaning to get involved in one, or at least do the thing where you pick up fresh veggies each week. Great reminder!

    • We have CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) programs all over around us. The one we want to sign up for (once we’ve moved) delivers and let’s you check off items you specifically don’t want to receive. We (more like I, the hubs doesn’t really care) can’t wait to try it out!

What do you think?
